Here’s an outstanding Chianti Classico made from 80% Sangiovese, 10% Pugnitello and 10% Colorino that opens with earthy aromas of underbrush, leather, violet, dark spices and red berries. The structured palate delivers rich black cherry, black pepper, clove and balsamic herbs alongside bracing yet refined tannins. It still shows some youthful aggression, so give it time to soften and develop complexity. Drink 2015–2025.

“Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is the only wine in the world twice honored as “Wine of the Year” by Wine Spectator Magazine (chosen amongst approximately 10,000 wines). Our quality is the result of a singular focus on cabernet grape growing in a climate where the soils and vines respond very well. This bottling represents the best lots of the vintage.”

Rufina’s unique soil with clay-limestone mixed with schist and the proximity of the Apennines provides longer ripening fruit with fresh acidity and wines with more finesse.
This Chianti Rufina is made with 95% Sangiovese and 5% a blend of Canaiolo, Colorina, and Malvasia Nera. Vinified in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks with 25 days of maceration. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in large French oak cask (15-20-25 hl) for 1O months. All estate fruit is cultivated with organic methods and vinified separately. Fermentation takes place with only indigenous yeasts.

In this big proprietary blend, winemaker Kirk Venge pits 70% Zinfandel and 14% Petite Sirah against 11% Charbono, a rare find in the Napa Valley, and 5% Syrah. The results are complex in deep cherry and milk chocolate, with plenty of grip and drinkable tannins, the finish soft and rich. This wine delivers a great value for the quality.
