2013 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2013 Quilceda Creek Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

$449.00

The 2012 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley is a seamless wine that coats the entire palate with copious amounts of blackberry, blueberry and cassis fruit with complex soy, smoke, graphite, spice and mineral undertones. All of this deep and rich fruit is perfectly complemented by additional floral suggestions of Hyacinth and Lavender. This classic wine should age effortlessly for 20+ years.

I think the wine of the vintage, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley is flat out sensational and flirts with perfection. Its inky ruby/purple colour is followed by incredible notes of cassis, black currants, smoked herbs, liquorice and graphite. These give way to a full-bodied, utterly seamless Cabernet that has full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin and a killer finish. While it possesses the elegance and purity of the vintage, it has a stacked mid-palate, and deserves 4-5 years of cellaring. It will have two decades or more of overall longevity. (JD) (6/2016)

(100% new oak, including a high percentage of Taransaud barrels): Dark red-ruby. Sensational, very ripe nose combines wild raspberry, mocha, cocoa powder, liquorice, minerals and exotic spices, with an intriguing suggestion of alpine berries introducing a pungent top notes. At once creamy and intense, offering compelling inner-mouth perfume to its raspberry, spice and tropical dark chocolate flavours. Finishing with a serious spine of big, enveloping tannins and outstanding spicy persistence and perfume, this utterly complete wine is built for a long and eventful evolution in bottle. One of my candidates for wine of the 2013 vintage. (ST) (7/2016)

*Cellar Selection* This wine is 100% varietal coming from Champoux, Palengat and Wallula Gap vineyards. The aromas bring plenty of appeal, with notes of incense, spice box and dark fruit that lead to full exquisitely balanced dark fruit flavours that show polish, poise and a lengthy finish. Broad and expressive, layering black cherry, plum, pear and black tea flavours into a beam that focuses the finish against well-managed but present tannins. Has depth, marvellous expression and length. Best from 2018 through 2025. (HS) (9/2016)
