2014 Château Fuissé Tête de Cru

2014 Château Fuissé Tête de Cru

$66.50

Tete de Cru 2014 is from a classic vintage. The wine is structured, balanced, elegant with a fantastic natural acidity. The wine is made from plots from both Pouilly and Fuissé. The plots in Pouilly, with a high limestone proportion, contribute to provide intense perfume yet more delicacy in the mouth. Those in Fuisse, where clay is more prominent, are less aromatic but fuller, more solid and structured. Vines are an average of 30 years old, which gives an extra level of complexity to the wine.

Wine Enthusiast

#50 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 of 2016

Selected from parcels across the estate, this wine aims to reflect the totality of the appellation. It succeeds with its combination of minerality and ripe fruit. Oak, almond and citrus fruits are still right up front, showing that this is a young wine that will age well. Drink from 2018.

This is creamy, well-integrated and long, displaying peach, honey, spice and butterscotch flavors. The fleshy texture is wrapped around a core of bright acidity. A mineral element emerges on the aftertaste. Drink now through 2023.

A discreet but not invisible touch of wood serves as a backdrop for the cool citrus, floral and various white orchard fruit aromas. There is an attractive texture to plump middle weight flavors that possess plenty of dry extract that coats the palate and serves to buffer the moderately firm acidity on the nicely complex and persistent finale. Barrel Sample: 88-9
